2014 Annual Rotary vs Lions Club Golf Tournament
This years annual golf tournament versus the Lions club resulted in the Rotary Club passing the trophy back to the Lions club after a string of victories. In respect to the annual tradition, Rotary club president, Joe Hedrick, kisses the trophy as it is handed off to the Lions club president.

After TRF representative Richard Laager narrowly missed the award for collecting the most clothes-pins (handed out by Fargo’s Interact Club), a deal was made to purchase the bottle of wine for $50 and auction it off at the next TRF Rotary meeting. As the original winner of the prize, Mark Lindquist graciously agreed to donate the money traded for the bottle to the PolioPlus fund. Another $100 was donated in Thief River Falls on May 13, 2014 for the Polio Plus fund by Tom Greelis, bringing the donation total to $150. Using “Rotary Math”, a 2-to-1 match is applied by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation bringing the total donation to $450. As every vaccination costs 60 cents, this single act of “service above self” means that 750 children will be vaccinated.
Richard Sather (left) and Ezra Grothe (center) presented their science project to the TRF Rotary on April 29, 2014. Richard and Ezra recently took first prize at the Bemidji Regional Science Fair Competition. Top prize at the regional science fair allowed the team to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair. TRF Rotary donated $500 to the team in order to help cover miscellaneous expenses associated with their trip. The ISEF will be held May 12th – 16th in Los Angeles, CA. Hannah Brickson and Brandon Kasparick will also attend the event as student observers. Hannah and Brandon will be competing in regionals next year. (The check was presented by Randy Hultgren.)

The Thief River Falls Rotary Club participated in the King of Wings competition. This event was a fundraiser for the Northwest Medical Center Hospital Foundation. The Foundation is raising funds to outfit a 4th operating suite at the new Sanford Hospital.
Last year, the Thief River Falls Rotary Club helped fund a pharmaceutical receptacle. The drop box, located at the Law Enforcement Center, provides residents an environmentally-friendly way to dispose of unused medications.

The former president of the Thief River Falls Rotary Club, Steve Lillestol, SpaceX passes the leadership to Kermit Genereux.
