We are grateful for our local and International female Rotarians and leaders plus enjoy the opportunity to support them!
In fact, our current president is a woman (Rhonda Stucy – Wings Financial Credit Union) and we appreciate her leadership!
“Rotary members work with local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, to strengthen local economies and reduce poverty. On this International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating women around the world who are achieving economic independence and helping their communities thrive.
Economic development projects led by Rotary members connect people with tools and education that create opportunities. These projects include:
Ecotourism Economic Development Project
Ten electric rickshaws and the training to use them that now provide a regular source of income for women in Kollam, India. The women and their families enjoy not only the higher income but a better quality of life.
Vocational training in hairdressing and other salon services for people in Jeonju, Korea. Some participants in the training are now earning an income for their work.
Production equipment and training in business skills for 50 female farmers in Menya Governorate, Egypt, to form a community kitchen and food businesses. Their packaged foods will be sold at a local market.
Donations to The Rotary Foundation fund global grants for life-changing projects like these that empower women with sustainable ways to earn a living and support their families. When Rotary members like you contribute, you’re actively investing in brighter futures for communities near home and around the world.
Won’t you join us in supporting economic progress for women?
Sincerely,
The Rotary Foundation”

Please help us welcome our newest TRF Rotarian, Tyler John Ust!
Tyler Ust moved to Thief River Falls in 2022 and currently serves as Hospital Administrator for Sanford Health Thief River Falls. Tyler has operating and strategic responsibility for the medical center and medical clinic services. He is originally from Portland, ND and is an alum of North Dakota State University and University of Iowa for graduate studies. Outside of his professional life, he is committed to community, family, and friends. Tyler is a board member for the Falls Under 40 and completes remote Big Brother relationships. Most of his free time is spent with family and friends, usually partaking in friendly competition, sport spectating, cooking, or adventuring to new places or national/state parks.
Please help us welcome one of our newest Rotarians, Kayla Lian!
I am a proud Prowler Alum, currently serving as the Interim Principal at LHS. I have been in education for 14 years, teaching in a variety of schools, grades, and content areas. I’ve taught in Gilbert, AZ – Buffalo, MN – Watertown-Mayer, MN – and was eventually blessed to make it back home to teach at Franklin Middle School. The majority of my teaching career has been in math, with a few years in reading and social studies. Serving a school is so much more than just the school day. I have led after school tutoring programs, coached a variety of sports, as well as reffed.
I am also currently the co-director of BIO Girls-Thief River Falls. We are coming up on our 3rd year serving the Thief River Falls community. BIO Girls is a preventative mental wellness program, with a mission of improving the self-esteem of 2-6 grade girls. We serve 40 girls each season and round out the season with a 5k. It’s a bucket-filler to lead young ladies in our community through physical activity, while building their self-esteem.
Professional life aside, I am a proud wife and mother. My husband, Christopher Lian, is the 6th grade social studies teacher at FMS. Together we have 5 sons: Kellen (4th gr), Everett and Jackson (2nd grade), Beckett (Kindergarten) and Declan (2yo). We have a family goal of going to every MN State Park, and we spend our summers exploring and camping around the state. We keep busy running to all of the activities our 5 boys find themselves active with, and we are so proud of the little gentlemen they are growing up to be. Being home has enabled us to spend quality time with family in the area, as well as wear our Blues and Golds proudly as a family of 7! Go Prowlers!

Hello, my name is Hunter Bradley, and I am thrilled to be a part of this dynamic organization dedicated to positive change and service. Originally, I am from the Reno-Sparks area of Nevada, but I moved to Grand Forks in 2019 to attend UND. From there I graduated in the Spring of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in international studies with minors in political science and French. I am currently working as a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America, where I take part in helping scouting grow through recruitment, fundraising, and more. At 23, I bring a youthful perspective and a reservoir of energy to the Rotary community. I firmly believe that age is not a barrier to making a difference, and I am excited to contribute my skills, learn from seasoned Rotary members, and be part of initiatives that create lasting change. I’m always open to connecting with fellow members and discovering new avenues for collaboration. Feel free to reach out to me at hunter.bradley@scouting.org. Thank you for the warm welcome, and I am genuinely looking forward to the exciting journey ahead with Rotary Club!

The news this week, in an online report by Arnold R. Grahl, highlights the continued effort of TRF to lighten the burden of victims of devastating disasters.
A year after the most powerful earthquake in nearly a century devastated parts of Turkey and Syria, Rotary members have helped people rebuild with container homes for hundreds of families, hospital equipment, and other essential support. A special Disaster Relief Fund created by The Rotary Foundation, now closed to contributions, raised more than US$2 million from donors around the world and funded about 60 grants that have allowed Rotary members to provide shelter, medical care, and other necessities. The earthquake on 6 February 2023 killed more than 55,000 people and affected 15 million others across southern Turkey and northern Syria. Many clubs and districts have organized humanitarian initiatives guided by Rotarians in the affected areas. The three districts in Turkey worked together to implement projects totaling US$10 million. Immediately after the earthquake, Rotarians in Turkey set up three tent cities to provide temporary shelter for 2,000 families. The districts have since used US$50,000 Disaster Response Grants coupled with other funds to establish two container cities while providing support for a third container city built by the local government in Ankara. Refik Kutluer, president of the Rotary Club of Ankara International, says his club arranged for six children whose limbs were amputated from injuries suffered in the earthquake to receive prosthetic limbs at hospitals in the United States. The treatments were provided at no cost to the families. “All these children have returned home and are again able to walk,” Kutluer says. “They continue to express their gratitude to Rotary saying that after the earthquake, they felt hopeless, but now they have been restored to life.” The Ankara International club also provided a mobile science laboratory and classroom for Ata College, almost completely destroyed by the earthquake. The school lost 26 students, two teachers, and two staff members in the quake. Classes are being held in prefabricated buildings. Rotary and Rotaract members have also purchased essential equipment for a hospital in Antakya. Using two US$50,000 grants, District 2430, Turkey, provided an ultrasound machine that hospital administrators requested as well as equipment to perform colonoscopies and endoscopies.
